January Recap
Welcome 2024!
Sew Social
Sewing Socially
We began the year strong with 3 events in the month of January.
We continued our partnership with the beloved Sew Social group who kicked off their year sewing all kinds of knick-knacks.
A couple weeks later they were back again, this time painting pillows. It was a fun and interesting event using fabric paint on upcycled fabrics that we will be assembling either at home or this Saturday, February 3rd 10am-1pm when Sew Social meets again.
Closet Creatives
Event Pics
We fit a closet full of creativity on a dreary rainy Saturday night when Closet Creatives arrived. To kick off our partnership, Melanie created a beautiful, layered event wherein the theme was gratitude. We read a short story about Stone Soup. Ate a soup and salad inspired by that, and to top it off had mocktails with Pop-Rocks in them. She is one for details!
We then went around and shared our gratitude for the people and things in our lives. To top the evening off, we created painted Thank-You card covers to hopefully send to deserving people in our lives.
It was an awesome event and I would encourage all to attend next time or when you get a chance! The next event will be Saturday February 24th 6pm-9pm. Tickets
theFrame
Speaking of partnerships, I personally created another backdrop for theFrame Charlotte. This was the 4th project for this photography studio that has an eye for design. I had to bring my A-game and create a backdrop that not only serves as a background for pictures, but also fits as a beautiful object inter mixed with the plants and contemporary furniture. Cheers to theFrame!
Derita is Cool Mural
Progress pics of the Artwork
The Derita Mural project is lifting off into reality. We met with the Artist, Owner, City and Installer over the past couple of weeks to begin the push for completion!
The final schematic design features a font from the property owners childhood growing up in Derita. The blue and green colors are from the Artist who remarked that Derita isn’t a ‘melting pot’, but a ‘Growing Pot’ and the colored gradient is intended to reflect that.
The snowflakes and wooden sign are finalizing prototyping as February looks to be a busy month of building and painting!
The aim is to install in the Ides of March with a community preview event at Derita Design. Details to come soon.
